Into the wood - what’s it all about?
It’s about me falling in love with wood, and I hope you will too. I never tire of seeing unique and beautiful wooden chopping and serving boards come to life from a rough milled piece of timber. No two boards are ever alike, even when made from the same tree.
When the wood has been carefully prepared and oiled using tung oil, the character and true beauty of each piece is revealed in all its glory. Your cooking and dining experiences can both be enhanced with my beautiful boards - bring a touch of nature to your table.
Tung oil is completely food safe and cures to give a wonderful finish that lasts well. A complimentary bottle will be provided with your board. A wipe over with oil from time to time will keep your board looking good.
I use milk paint to give an occasional splash of colour. Used for thousands of years it is made using milk and lime and bound with caesin. Beautiful soft colours are available and it is also completely food safe.
All of the wood I use is sustainably sourced, none is commercially grown. I buy from a few suppliers that only mill fallen timber. The photo shows a few off cuts of oak that might not look very promising but prepare to be amazed! My boards are all hardwood, you will notice a significant weight in your hands - even with the smaller boards. The wood has a presence and you will feel it.
